When a child is born, he/she brings a new life, a new hope and a new future. From the times of the ancient epics, shown in television of Mahabharata, girl child was less preferred over males. To carry forward the famous “Vansh” males were wanted from the deity. The legacy returns to the present. In the modern yet profound world, the ratio of female feticides is increasing at a faster rate. We might some time overlook this sensitive issue in news, but it cannot be unnoticed. To pretend, India is progressing, but it is actual progressing or not, this cannot be answered. The historical, cultural or political nature of the economy can encounter alterations, but evils like “Female Feticides” is still prevalent. The ratio of Female feticides is increasing day by day Two states, highest affected by this issue are “Punjab” & “Haryana”. The sex ratio in Haryana is 830 over 1000 in the age group between 0-6 years and 877 over 1000 in general category. The Haryana government urges and comments that “every girl child is allowed to be born”. We encounter huge developments in the state with shopping malls, corporate towers, and real estate properties. Modern approach towards life has taken over by the elite classes prevalent in the society, but the society evils are much present.
The country is developing but the development of thought is missing. Society evils have been the most important issue. Serials like “Satyamev Jayate” have taken a step further in proving this and handshake with Media in showcasing the real picture of society. The profound image of an actor like Aamir Khan facing the public and showcasing the society evils as a real image is one which is accolade and taken care of. So called “urban development” is taking place but the mentality and societal norms are just the same. Elite class is devoid of knowing the fact that every child needs to be born. It is a form of a crime and a murder. Doctors actively taking part in such a crime have to face the highest form of punishment. It creates an imbalance in the society, where the ratio of boys exceeds the ratio of girls. The voice reckoning fact is that such a plight of the so called “modern society” would encounter more and more problems and issues.
The society evils that are prevalent performing such heinous crimes would always be treated as downtrodden. The issue that arises is the empowerment of women, and the role of women in the society, where all are treated as the same. Be it a girl or a boy it is a human child. The equilibrium should be maintained with the development of all the facets of society. Males are treated superior and females’ inferior. Targeting the right area has been the iniative. Contributing towards the society is targeted with the sole aim of benefiting it as a whole. The hope of creating a better society is focused with overall development and is aimed towards societal, economic or political norms.

We all have known the fact behind serving your country it is Patriotism at its best. Slogans like “Jai Hind” still echo in our minds and thoughts. It is also said that a man’s country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers and woods, but it’s a principle and patriotism is loyalty to that principal. In all genres of the society, in all the cultures, in all the facets of life there is always a statement within our minds i.e. Patriotism demands respect and commitment. Youth defines it to the best of the level they can. The attempt to stardom and presenting a picture which is vague showcases the level with which it’s portrayed. With years of success and history Indian Patriotism has proven its best. From the treasures of the 1980’s and 1970’s movies like Mother India to the generation next Rang De Basanti, the taste of the movies and the content is all what matters. Rang De Basanti showed true fervor of patriotism and gave youth a new image of the Indian culture. Portraying Bhagat Singh in a picture contrast was real and instilled in us the feeling of patriotism. Filmmaking has become an art of portraying real; it is no more dancing around the trees and singing your favorite song. The audience and the youth demands real stuff. Movies on a topic of Patriotism have a great impact. The youth wants to see their favorite stars and the filmmakers put them in a picture frame where they act real. Movies like Kahaani and Agent Vinod were more of commercial movies, & portrayed patriotism. The fight of a girl for her husband, who became a victim of the terrorist act, was worthy to be displayed as a thriller. The fervor of patriotism is instilled to such an extent where it takes the form of self devotion. The theme was inspired to be a thriller but on the due course at the climax it showed the courage to act against those disturbing the peace of the country. The planning and the plotting of the movie pictures the fight of persons rights against terrorism. Young talent pool highlights the terrorism on its own. With Agent Vinod stealing the limelight with famous stars the message again was clear, fight against terrorism. Kahaani was accolade with critics in contrast to agent Vinod. Young blood’s agony towards patriotism is identified in movies, in politics, in real life also. Movies like Kahaani came out to be more with a patriotic fervor amongst the youth. The theme was bold yet contemporary. The modernistic approach made it a treat to be watched and famous amongst the youth. All genres of age liked the movie and it was well picturised.

Youth and the chick lit age is sound with their rights & duties. Their duty towards the country is imbibed in them through the art of patriotism. It is inborn, yet unnoticed. Whether at youth elections or getting the bravery award, serving your country is put at the highest platform. Loving the country and living each moment is the love for the country, but serving and catering to the demands of the armed forces is true patriotism. The youth awakens with the message of serving your country with movies like Kahaani. Living abroad, yet fighting for your country is clearly described in the movie, with an art of a thriller. We are the real harbingers of CHANGE and serving the country in its true form is patriotism.

‘The traces of the past can be felt’

Soon this statement would be remembered and engraved in the minds of thousands of Indian cricket fans. The wall of the Indian cricket team would now not beckon all, on 9th March, 2012; a star is unleashed this time to retire with pride. One of the finest cricketer & the finest person one can think of is ‘Rahul Dravid ‘. He calls himself one of the luckiest people to be a part of the Indian cricket team. The making of a star and his polishing starts at a young age and retires at 39. His cricket career started at the grounds of his home town Bangalore. His remarkable career reached the pinnacle of its success when he bedazzled the cricket fans by scoring 95 at the Lords. The Bangalore hero has his fan following nationally as well as internationally. He proved his talent as an opening batsman whenever he created a century and lifting his bat facing the crowd with their maddening roars and cricket frenzies. Also, with his expertise behind the wickets added on a sense of responsibility towards his country on his shoulders whenever it was a do or die situation. Cricket was his passion but like for every cricketer for him it was to walk strong till the finality of the results. Such a renowned and esteemed cricketer can only be accolade by the warmth and the overwhelming responses of his fans. He called himself a game lover and appreciated the game to be loved by all genres of the society. All people glued on the television sets for his century making or his retaliation from the field would now only see him at the IPL’s. His female fans must be heartbroken as such a brave heart retires. His comeback after every injury was seen as a life saving god’s gift at any crucial match. His witty and blunt attitude at the conferences and press releases weighs his words and never came out as any comment or a controversial quote on the Indian cricket team. He was a noblest at the thought which showcases his personality as a true gentleman who never boards down at any stage. With his right advice, the young talent pool got nurtured and skilled to enter into the score 11. With his shyness and coyness he created ripples in the minds and the hearts of the youth. If we talk about his skills at the battlefield, he astounded the public with his last minute shots and scores. His warm responses and his unbent attitude at the conferences made his statement less controversial. He was a legend in himself; at the signing he wore the same style of gentility, ease and an eloquent personality. He was a man of his words; balanced his work as well as personal life. At the personal front his life saw another turn when he became a father as he clearly mentioned now the routinely task of going to the grocery store and picking his kids from school. Many of the young talent pool takes and learn from his historic records. He was always calm and poise at any loses whether it can be the most hyped “India – Pakistan”. Jammy as kid’s call, he was there favorite, a personality accepted by the young or the old or the youth has to be appreciated for his constant delivering of the best at the field.

His tenure with the Indian team is an era in itself, and would always be remembered. At the thanks giving ceremony like a gentleman he remembered all his coaches, teammates, supporters, selectors, captains and the staff who were the real career shapers for him. ‘I am what I Am ‘a statement which well defines a personality like him. Like they say the old replaces the new no one can actually replace a man like him in the history of the Indian team. His attitude towards his country and his never ending dyeing spirit makes him a man of his worth. He was up ready to face any challenge or a difficult task and fights back whenever he was considered to be down. Many new comers look up to him as a teacher and preach his teachings in taking India as a team to new heights and horizons. Cricket runs in the blood of every citizen of India. The growth of the game is immense, every year we see jam packed auditoriums and cricket grounds just to see one glance of their favorite cricketer. For many it is a game which represents India’s pride and is taken with all seriousness. This is the truth that we have been hearing since long, that such cricketers are our pride and would always surrender our soul. It is a heartening feeling that would always be felt at such a historic end that made a history in it.

Very Low response at the World Book Fair

Abraham Lincoln one’s said “The things I want to know are in books; my best friend is the man who’ll get me a book I ain’t read “. This quote showcases Lincoln’s urge to read. As they say books are your best friends, but for some they turn out to be their worst enemies. The habit of reading inculcates at a very young age and prospers with every tune of time. The readers from all sorts of age bracket were a part of the much awaited World Book fair at the Pragati Maidan grounds, which started on 25th February to 4th March organized by the National Book trust. The theme of Book fair 2012 was the ‘Indian Cinema as it completes its 100 years in 2013’. The list of participants was from all parts of the world. Countries like USA, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Singapore, Germany, Canada, Nepal, and Italy and Japan all showcase there collection of books. The book world brings with it all people from different ages ranging from the young to the old. Delhi being the education hub harbors this literati fest which brings all the readers from different parts of the city to participate and showcase the best of their talent. The fair showcases a pool of young writers and also the famous ones.

Books are appreciated and famous amongst some, but this time at the world book fair, to much amusement, the youth was less seen. Most of the hype in Delhi and favorites among the youth is the latest gadget or the fashonista fest like the much recent Wills India Lifestyle Fashion Week. The footfall on these events was much greater than seen on the Book fair. Youth constantly keep themselves updated with the latest gadget or with the upcoming fashion but when it comes for them to talk about books they seemed to be less aware. Their take on this is that the load of course books is way too much too be handled than to read the fiction and the non-fiction books. Suddenly the timeline devoted in reading books diminishes than to visit the latest fashion expo or the latest Auto Expo taking place in the city. There was a very low response from the youth to be present at such an event. They just cant resist the temptation for an I-Pad but can sit back and relax in the wait for a book to be gifted. The youth seemed so tech savvy than book savvy. Also, their presence can be questioned on the fact by the cyber media.

Why visit when everything available on a click

We all know that cyber media is booming, its boom has created ripples in the minds of the Indian population, Yes, everything is available on a click and there are a lot of customize options present. The major online retail sites, like Flipkart.com, and snap deal brings an easy access to most of the people, as retail stores and takes you on a shopping spree.

Also, In contrast to this was seen some young school children, dressed in their school dresses visiting the fair which was heartening and much appreciated. Authors like Chetan Bhagat and others non fiction writers are more real and life sized which are a hit among the young readers. Other writers may not be disappointed on the fact that there popularity comes with their research not with their take on the real life love
stories. They were keener on exploring various options available for them to read. Thus, it was seen that books are famous among the young and the old but not amongst the youth. The interest level is diverting from reading than to be updated with the latest trend.

The growth of this fair is tremendous, but unexpectedly this time we didn’t saw a much awestruck response from all the readers. The footfall was low which added on to the disappointments for all the exhibitors. The purchasing interest of most of the readers was very low. This brings on to the fact that why there was such a low response for such a literature fest.

Media playing a lesser role

Media on the other hand plays a vital role to create that hype for any event to happen. Maybe, this time the media has not played an active role in grand sizing such event. The news in various channels and the media vans haven’t created the zoom effect in the advertising world. Media constantly flashes an entertainment event than a book event.

All these are my mind thoughts for the diminishing response at the Delhi book fair. The 2011 response was also flat on the fact that why such literature tributes are losing onto their identities and also the youth prioritizing entertainment vs education. Therefore I would end my thought process by suggesting all the youth to initiate such events and show the zeal and eagerness to be a part of it as compared to the latest fashion fiesta happening in the city.

We all have or have had career slumps and they do pass. If you are feeling “slumpish” these days, know that you will look back one day and recognize the valuable lessons you’ve learned from this time in your life. Everything happens for a reason-you just might not know the reason yet.
If this is a down period for you, the good news is it’s up from here.

While You Are Figuring Things Out, Trust That Tomorrow Will Be A Better Day. Here’s How To Focus On What’s Yet To Come:

1. Write down What You Want Your Future To Look Like
Create a picture of where you see yourself in the future. Your picture can be one of where you want to be in a day, a week, a month, a year, or even farther into the future. This picture gives your journey a clear and reachable destination and provides focus.
Close your eyes. Let your imagination take over. Get in touch with what you really want and what is important to you. Ask yourself what you want and get your answers down on paper. Keep this description with you and look at it every day. Great things tend to happen to those who know where they are going.

2. Have A Plan
Once you have your answers, you can begin to put them into a formal structure.
Having a plan is vital to your success. With a plan, a fulfilling career will be far easier to achieve. Without a plan, you will be working far harder than you have to.
The trick is to be clear about the steps that are necessary to ensure your success. The more specific you can be in describing your steps, the better. Figuring out in detail what steps you will take-and when you will take them-is the foundation of your plan.
Another reason to create a plan is that it will prevent your goals from becoming overwhelming. The temptation to feel overwhelmed is normal. You are, after all, about to jumpstart your career. The structure of your plan will give you comfort and help you get moving again.

3. Take Action
Action is essential to your success. And, one of the best ways to keep your momentum going is having the steps you created in your plan written into your calendar.
Use your calendar as your friend to help guide you and keep you on track. Having a calendar will help determine whether you reach your goal or not. If your steps are written into your calendar, there is a higher probability that you can quickly check them off your list, because what you need to do is in front of you. If your steps are not in your calendar, they probably will not get done, because you may forget what you need to do.
Your calendar is your friend. Begin your friendship by opening your calendar and entering the steps from your plan into it. Commit to doing at least one thing every day, whether you feel like it or not. One action per day leads to a substantial number of actions taken over time. This is how you will be successful.

4. Tell Yourself That Greatness Is Waiting For You
The workplace, from time to time, can take a toll on your self-esteem. For example, if you are working in an environment that is filled with negativity, it will be harder for you to be positive. If your boss tells you daily that your work is no good, it will be harder for you to believe in your abilities. If you have been out of work for some time, it will be harder for you to trust that you have something worthwhile to contribute to the workplace, or more difficult to think why someone would hire you.
How you view yourself is how the world views you, too. If you are confident, the world sees a confident individual. If you don’t feel good about yourself (for whatever reason), the world sees a person they don’t have to pay much attention to.

Many clients have asked me whether I think they will be successful in reaching their goals. My answer is yes-if they do the work and they believe in themselves.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!

The Indian Government declared January 24th as National Girl Child Day .The purpose of this day is to focus attention on the depleting female to male ratio and take a stand on issues of female foeticide, domestic violence and malnutrition in children. Campaigns around these 3 major concerns are highlighted and the government tries to raise awareness as well as propagate gender equality among people.

India is growing dynamically in every fields. Today, the boom in economy, innovative technologies and improved infrastructure has become nation’s pride. The country has witnessed advancements in all fields but bias against a girl child is still prevailing in the country.

This social evil is deep rooted in Indian ethos and the most shocking fact is that the innovative and hard high end technologies are brutally killing the Indian girl child.

Nearly half of India’s children are girls. However, the girl child is considered a lesser child in our society. Irrespective of class, caste and economic conditions, she is discriminated against and neglected at all the levels. This result in the denial of basic services required for her survival, welfare and development. The girl child is perceived as a burden to be passed on to another family. Her contribution in the household economy is not acknowledged. Various factors contribute towards the increase of offences/crime against women, including dowry deaths, rape, and eve-teasing, etc. The girl child has to be brought up with utmost care and regard by instilling in her the sense of pride and responsibility of nurturing the future generation. Faster development can only be possible by the human resources development. Therefore, our ultimate aim should be improving the lot of the girl child. I sincerely believe that those who do not respect the girl child actually do not respect their own mother and their own sister. I deeply wish that girl child in India be treated equally with the male child. Educate the girl child. She is special, she will be a mother, and she will be a wife like your mother or your wife or our sister appeals to you not to discriminate against the girl child in our country.

let us make a promise to educate the girl child, save them from discrimination!!!

Management is not just for managers, just as leadership is not just for leaders.
We all manage, and we all lead; these are not actions reserved for only those people who happen to hold these “positions” in a company. I personally think of management and ip as callings, and we all get these callings to manage and lead at different times, and to different degrees.
For instance, these are what I’ve come to think of as Twelve Rules for Self-Management. Show me a business where everyone lives and works by self-managing, and I’ll bet it’s a business destined for greatness.
1. Live by your values, whatever they are. You confuse people when you don’t, because they can’t predict how you’ll behave.
2. Speak up! No one can “hear” what you’re thinking without you be willing to stand up for it. Mind-reading is something most people can’t do.
3. Honor your own good word, and keep the promises you make. If not, people eventually stop believing most of what you say, and your words will no longer work for you.
4. When you ask for more responsibility, expect to be held fully accountable. This is what seizing ownership of something is all about; it’s usually an all or nothing kind of thing, and so you’ve got to treat it that way.
5. Don’t expect people to trust you if you aren’t willing to be trustworthy for them first and foremost. Trust is an outcome of fulfilled expectations.
6. Be more productive by creating good habits and rejecting bad ones. Good habits corral your energies into a momentum-building rhythm for you; bad habits sap your energies and drain you.
7. Have a good work ethic, for it seems to be getting rare today. Curious, for those “old-fashioned” values like dependability, timeliness, professionalism and diligence are prized more than ever before. Be action-oriented. Seek to make things work. Be willing to do what it takes.
8. Be interesting. Read voraciously, and listen to learn, then teach and share everything you know. No one owes you their attention; you have to earn it and keep attracting it.
9. Be nice. Be courteous, polite and respectful. Be considerate. Manners still count for an awful lot in life, and thank goodness they do.
10. Be self-disciplined. That’s what adults are supposed to “grow up” to be.
11. Don’t be a victim or a martyr. You always have a choice, so don’t shy from it: Choose and choose without regret. Look forward and be enthusiastic.
12. Keep healthy and take care of yourself. Exercise your mind, body and spirit so you can be someone people count on, and so you can live expansively and with abundance.

Managers will tell you that they don’t really need to manage people who live by these rules; instead, they can devote their attentions to managing the businesses in which they all thrive. Chances are it will also be a place where great leaders are found.

Martin Luther King Jr.,, once said “If a man is called to be a street-sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street-sweeper who did his job well.’”

Do we love our job? Do we even like it? Or do we find our work about as interesting as spending eight hours a day watching paint dry?

How many of us feel happy that its Monday? Do you look forward to Monday morning? Are you raring to go back to work? Or are you a TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday) kind of person who can’t wait to get away from the job for a couple of days? You spend at least 8-9 hours a day at the job. That is almost 25-30% of your week. If you are a TGIF person you are missing something really important in your work life - passion.

Unfortunately, many people don’t enjoy their work. What’s worse is that they have no expectation that they should. Work is often seen as the means to an end. Work your job, so you can pay your bills.

Being passionate about your job is more than the old adage “do what you love”. It’s looking forward to going to work. It’s time flying by when you’re there. It’s working past quitting time, not because you’re swamped with work, but because you were so intent you didn’t notice the time.

How does one get passionate about their job:
1. Putting passion in work: The trick is not just to feel passionately about your job, but to act passionately too. If you act passionately, you won’t sit passively through another boring meeting. You can’t. You will share that passion with the others in the meeting. Your energy can lift all of them. Even if it doesn’t, you will feel better knowing you are doing something to advance the cause in which you believe passionately.

2. Be innovative: To be so involved with your work that once you have determined your goal, be prepared to try different approaches. The method of choice is the method, which will work best, not necessarily the usual method. If the common sense approach does not work, invent a new one. Be adapting and modifying whatever is at hand to solve the problem and to achieve the objective.

3. Self driven and motivated: Its not necessary that we need the organizational environment or the boss’ attitude to drive us or put us down. A person passionate at job can be consistent in his job by his own drive and when situations are bad he continues to work with the same vigor or maybe more. There is no need to search for means of motivation, the work itself is a cause to enjoy it.

To get optimal results we need to sharpen our skills consistently. Being adept at our job can help us achieve our targets.

Life is short. Don’t waste your life waiting for the weekends. Find something that ignites your passion and go for it. In the words of author H. Jackson Browne, “Find a job you like and you add five days to every week.”
